When registering for the practical driving test, you must provide proof that you have attended the eight-hour traffic theory course (VKU) with a certified driving instructor. The course must have been completed within the last two years and is mandatory.
The aim of the traffic theory course is to promote defensive and responsible driving, in particular by fostering traffic awareness and teaching risk assessment. Candidates who are required to attend the traffic theory course can only participate once they have received their learner’s permit.
